Job summary

Userpilot, a leading product analytics and engagement platform, is seeking a senior Core Team engineer to own how the system fits together, scales, and recovers from failures.

As the most senior individual-contributor, you will set technical direction, guardrails, and reliability practices across the engineering org, while shepherding architectural ADRs and AI-native tooling in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Senior experience designing and operating distributed systems in production.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals and backend depth beyond infra.
• Architectural judgment with ADRs and tradeoffs clearly documented.
• Experience with incident response and postmortems to drive prevention.
• Familiarity with AI-native tooling and CI/CD quality gates.

Responsibilities

• Lead system design for cross-cutting and high-risk work.
• Partner with squads to turn product requirements into scalable designs.
• Own production reliability: monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices.
• Be first-in on incidents: diagnose, fix, and postmortem to prevent recurrence.
• Design, provision, and operate infrastructure on AWS with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and validation gates.
• Write ADRs/runbooks to document context for humans and agents.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship across the engineering org.
• Monitor and optimize infrastructure costs.
