Job summary

Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone invites applications for an ambitious Conference Manager to lead the Conference Department and deliver exceptional events, meetings and guest experiences. This senior position sits within the Hotel Management Team and focuses on seamless planning, execution, and client satisfaction.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, motivate and develop the Conference team, manage budgets and payroll, and collaborate with Sales, Events, Kitchen, Accommodation and F&B to exceed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in a management role within Conference operations.
• Proven experience managing conferences and events operations within a hotel environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent organisational, planning and time management abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Financial awareness with experience managing budgets, costs and payroll.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Knowledge of health, safety and food hygiene regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the Conference department.
• Oversee the planning and execution of all conferences, meetings and events.
• Liaise with guests and event organisers to ensure all requirements are delivered to the highest standard.
• Work closely with the Sales, Events, Kitchen, Accommodation and Food & Beverage teams to ensure seamless event delivery.
• Ensure all function rooms and event spaces are prepared and presented in accordance with guest specifications and hotel standards.
• Lead, motivate, train and develop the Conference team.
• Prepare staff rosters and manage labour costs in line with budget requirements.
• Monitor departmental performance, revenue and costs to achieve business targets.
• Ensure all food and beverage service standards are consistently maintained.
• Effectively manage guest feedback and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety, HACCP and company policies and procedures.
• Support the achievement of departmental and hotel objectives through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster strong working relationships across all hotel departments.
