Job summary

Coffey is looking for a Senior Civil Estimator to lead tender estimates for major civil projects in Ireland and the UK. You will coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external consultants to secure contracts and drive high-quality submissions.

The role requires strong commercial acumen, contract knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tenders while mentoring Assistant Estimators. Hybrid work arrangements apply with office and home-based days.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant construction discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• Significant estimating experience within civil engineering or construction, ideally Irish/UK projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of construction contracts.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Full clean Irish, UK or EU driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of tender estimates for civil engineering projects.
• Manage all aspects of allocated tenders, including design co-ordination where required.
• Obtain and evaluate material and subcontractor quotations and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Produce tender programmes in collaboration with delivery managers.
• Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities within tender submissions.
• Ensure tender reviews and submissions comply with company procedures and quality standards.
• Support successful tender handovers to delivery teams.
• Mentor and manage Assistant Estimators, promoting collaboration and continuous development.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, Forms of Contract, and the Group's HSQE Management Systems.
• Ensure all tenders promote safe methods of work and comply with statutory health and safety requirements.

Locations: Athenry, Co. Galway, Maynooth, Co. Kildare or Rathcormac, Co. Cork (Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)

As a Senior Civil Estimator, you will lead the preparation of competitive, high-quality tender submissions, working closely with internal teams, clients and external consultants to secure major civil engineering contracts.
