Head of Estimating / Senior Estimating Manager
Dublin ( Hybrid )
€150K plus attractive package + bonus DOE
Duties:
Commercial & Risk Management
- Identify commercial, contractual and operational risks during the tender stage.
- Develop risk registers and incorporate appropriate allowances into estimates.
- Review NEC, NR, JCT and bespoke contract documentation.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager to ensure robust commercial assumptions.
- Support value engineering initiatives and alternative construction methodologies.
Estimating & Tendering
- Lead the preparation, coordination and submission of tenders from initial enquiry through to contract award.
- Review client specifications, drawings, scope documents and contract requirements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, pricing schedules and tender submissions.
- Prepare and review bills of quantities, schedules of rates and target costs.
- Ensure all tenders are commercially viable, competitive and aligned with business objectives.
- Present tender reviews and recommendations to senior management.
Supply Chain & Procurement
- Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key supply chain partners.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement to secure best value solutions.
- Benchmark supply chain rates and market trends.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor estimating personnel.
- Develop estimating procedures, systems and best practices.
- Drive consistency and quality across all tender submissions.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and commercial awareness.
- Support recruitment, training and development of future estimating talent.
Business Development & Strategy
- Attend client meetings, pre-tender discussions and site visits.
- Support framework applications and strategic business growth initiatives.
- Analyse tender outcomes and capture lessons learned.
- Provide commercial and market intelligence to the leadership team.
- Contribute to annual business planning and growth strategies.
Project Handover
- Lead the handover process from successful tender to project delivery teams.
- Ensure all commercial assumptions, risks, opportunities and programme commitments are fully communicated.
- Support project teams during mobilisation and early-stage delivery.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years' estimating experience within Civil Engineering, Power, Utilities, Data Centre Sectors
- Proven experience delivering successful tenders on projects valued from €500k to €50m+.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and infrastructure procurement routes.
