Job summary

CREGG is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our pre-construction team in Galway/Limerick/Dublin. You will lead detailed cost estimates, analyse drawings, and manage end-to-end tender submissions for diverse projects, aiming to secure profitable work.

A degree in QS/CM, 5–10 years in estimating, and strong knowledge of the Irish market are essential. You will identify risks, obtain quotations, coordinate with clients and subs, and mentor junior estimators.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 5-10 years’ experience in an estimating role.
• Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Proven track record in delivering competitive tenders across multiple project types.
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials and building regulations in Ireland.
• High level of commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in estimating software.
• Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of construction projects (commercial, residential, healthcare, education, etc.).
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost plans.
• Manage the full tendering process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
• Identify project risks and opportunities, incorporating them into pricing strategies.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and requirements.
• Present tender reviews and recommendations to senior management.
• Maintain and update cost databases and historical records.
• Mentor and support junior estimators and contribute to team development.
• Attend pre and post-tender meetings as required.
