Job summary

Lever, Inc. seeks a Senior Backend Engineer for Payments & Fintech in Ireland. Lead the architecture of a canonical billing and entitlement platform, spanning payments, subscriptions, and revenue workflows.

You will own end-to-end financial systems, integrate with multiple gateways, and ensure accuracy across orders, invoices, and settlements. The role emphasizes correctness, auditable data, and reliable operation at scale, with a focus on migrating from legacy to a modern, enterprise-ready

Qualifications

• 6–10 years backend experience with Go and SQL.
• Experience building payment, subscription, billing, and ledger systems end-to-end.
• Understanding of financial systems: revenue recognition, taxation, reporting.
• Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency billing and auditability.
• Strong ownership, communication, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a canonical billing ledger using append-only architecture.
• Own the complete subscription lifecycle across multiple gateways.
• Build gateway ingestion pipelines with idempotent webhooks and daily reconciliation.
• Handle refunds, chargebacks, disputes, credits, and accurate allocations.
• Create data pipelines for accounting close, revenue recognition, and tax reporting.
• Own customer-facing billing experiences, including checkout and account management.
• Lead migration from legacy models with data backfills and regional cutovers.
• Establish practices prioritizing financial correctness, observability, and reliability.
