Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer - Pricing based in Ireland to lead the pricing infrastructure for a modern energy platform. You will own the Pricing API and the pricing data pipelines, ensuring fast, accurate, and explainable quotes for real energy contracts and third‑party access.

You will drive architectural decoupling, reliability, and performance while guiding cross-team technical direction. The role emphasizes remote‑first collaboration, AI-assisted engineering, and high‑impact

Qualifications

Deep production experience with Python backend engineering and APIs at scale.
Experience taking ownership of production systems and acting as senior escalation point.
Proven track record of decoupling or migrating live systems without disruption.
Strong proficiency with FastAPI and SQL in data-intensive environments.
Experience balancing speed, accuracy, and explainability in pricing.
Ability to drive cross-team technical direction and ownership models.
Familiarity with AWS, serverless, and data tooling.

Responsibilities

Build, evolve, and operate the Pricing API for fast, reliable, accurate, explainable pricing.
Lead extraction of pricing logic into a dedicated service with clear boundaries.
Manage architectural migrations and decoupling while preserving functionality.
Own pricing reliability with monitoring, detection, and alerting for prices.
Ensure pricing failures are diagnosable and explainable to stakeholders.
Improve pricing performance and reduce quote latency through architecture.
Set engineering standards and influence development practices in pricing domain.
Mentor teams via pairing, guidance, and AI-assisted workflows.
Act as escalation point for live pricing incidents and implement durable improvements.
Balance speed, numerical correctness, reliability, and cost in decisions.
Negotiate service boundaries and ownership with neighboring teams.
