Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a L5 Principal Engineer embedded within BET to lead technology strategy for sourcing and delivery of new businesses. You will guide architecture, assess opportunities, and mentor engineers across product and engineering teams.

The role requires deep expertise in distributed systems, AI-enabled workflows, and scalable cloud architectures, with a focus on secure, reliable solutions across enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience in an agile production environment.
• Strong backend engineering experience using languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Scala, or similar technologies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technology and architecture advisor for new business opportunities, ensuring technical feasibility and architecture considerations early in the lifecycle.
• Partner with product, business, sourcing, and engineering teams to shape opportunity hypotheses and early feasibility assessments.
• Assess build, partner, invest, acquire, or discontinue pathways and provide clear technical recommendations.
