Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a L5 Principal Engineer within the BET organization to drive technical leadership across new business opportunities and architecture. You will collaborate with product, sourcing, and engineering teams to shape concepts, evaluate options, and mitigate risks at early stages.

As a senior influencer, you will guide design decisions, ensure security and reliability, and help scale solutions with cloud-based data and AI-enabled capabilities across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience in an agile production environment.
• Strong backend experience with Java, Kotlin, Python, Scala, or similar.
• Led design and implementation of large features spanning teams.
• Ability to align business opportunities with technical execution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technology and architecture advisor for new business opportunities, ensuring feasibility and architectural alignment.
• Partner with product, business, sourcing, and engineering teams to shape hypotheses, concepts, and early feasibility.
• Assess whether opportunities are best pursued via build, partner, invest, or acquire paths with clear recommendations.
• Identify technical risks early and influence architectural decisions across incubation to scale.
