Job summary

Mastercard is seeking an L5 Principal Engineer embedded in the BET organization to drive technology leadership for sourcing and delivery of new businesses. You will partner with product and engineering teams to shape opportunities, assess feasibility, and guide architectures that align with Mastercard standards.

The role requires strong backend skills, experience with AI/LLM-enabled workflows, and collaboration across geographies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS or related field.
8+ years of full-stack engineering in agile environments.
Strong backend experience in Java/Kotlin/Python/Scala.
Experience designing large, cross-team features and platforms.
Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Serve as senior technology and architecture advisor for new opportunities.
Collaborate with product, business, sourcing, and engineering to shape hypotheses and feasibility.
Assess build vs. buy vs. partner options and provide technical recommendations.
Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and decisions.
