The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow the Irish commercial operation of a leading international technology business.
This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for Ireland's sales strategy, revenue growth, key accounts and sales performance. The successful candidate will combine strong technical sales experience with the commercial leadership required to develop a high-performing Irish territory.
The business operates in highly technical and regulated markets, partnering with some of the world's leading manufacturing organisations. Its technology supports critical manufacturing environments across sectors including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and electronics.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded individual who is comfortable taking ownership, developing strategy and building long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial Leadership
- Own the overall sales strategy and commercial plan for Ireland.
- Deliver agreed revenue, margin and growth targets.
- Develop and execute territory and account plans.
- Identify new markets, customers and revenue opportunities.
- Maintain a strong and accurately forecasted sales pipeline.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments.
- Identify opportunities for new products, services and solutions within the Irish market.
- Lead major commercial opportunities, tenders and negotiations.
- Ensure robust CRM usage, reporting and sales forecasting.
Strategic Account Management
- Develop and maintain senior relationships with key pharmaceutical, biotech, medical-device and electronics customers.
- Build relationships across engineering, manufacturing, quality, validation, procurement and site leadership.
- Develop strategic account plans for high-value customers.
- Identify cross-selling, upselling and long-term partnership opportunities.
- Understand customer investment plans and upcoming capital projects.
- Position the organisation as a strategic technical partner rather than simply a product supplier.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop the Irish sales team.
- Set clear objectives, territories and individual sales targets.
- Provide regular performance reviews, coaching and support.
- Develop sales capability and technical/commercial expertise within the team.
- Support team members with major opportunities and complex customer engagements.
- Foster a culture of entrepreneurialism, innovation, accountability and customer focus.
Technical & Customer Engagement
- Maintain a strong understanding of the company's technology, products and services.
- Engage directly with customers on technically complex opportunities.
- Translate customer requirements into commercially compelling solutions.
- Support product demonstrations, technical presentations and major proposals.
- Maintain awareness of relevant industry guidance, regulations and technological developments.
- Work closely with applications, engineering, service and technical teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
Market Development & Representation
- Represent the business at conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs and industry events.
- Develop relationships with industry bodies and relevant networks.
- Support marketing and MarCom initiatives within Ireland.
- Identify opportunities to increase market visibility and brand awareness.
- Build a strong understanding of the competitive landscape.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced technical sales leader with a strong understanding of the Irish pharmaceutical and/or high-technology manufacturing market.
You will ideally have:
- 7–10+ years' B2B technical sales experience.
- Proven sales management or commercial leadership experience.
- A strong track record of achieving revenue and margin targets.
- Experience selling into pharmaceutical, biotech, medical-device, electronics or other regulated/high-technology manufacturing environments.
- Existing relationships with major Irish manufacturing organisations would be highly advantageous.
- Experience with instrumentation, process equipment, environmental monitoring, cleanroom technology, contamination control, automation or related technical solutions is desirable.
- Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles and long-duration capital projects.
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract-management skills.
- Excellent forecasting, pipeline-management and CRM discipline.
- Ability to engage confidently with technical specialists as well as senior decision-makers.
- Strong presentation and public-speaking skills.
- Experience recruiting, coaching or developing sales professionals.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within an international organisation.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Ireland and occasionally internationally.

Package
Base salary: dependent on experience and seniority, with a competitive bonus/commission structure and comprehensive benefits.
The package will be aligned to the seniority of the appointment and the candidate's existing technical sales and leadership experience.
