Site Civil Engineer – Ireland (Regional South)
Location: Primarily site‑based across the South of Ireland, with periodic attendance at Head Office (Raharney, Co. Westmeath)
Role Overview
A Site Civil Engineer is required to support the delivery of major civils and precast installation projects across Ireland. This role involves site coordination, technical oversight, setting out, quality assurance, health & safety compliance, and project reporting. The position is primarily site‑based, with required attendance at head office for coordination, planning, and project review activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily site activities with the Project Manager and Site Foreman.
- Monitor compliance with design specifications and ensure dimensional accuracy of precast installations.
- Carry out setting out duties and provide accurate datum levels.
- Interpret and work from construction drawings.
- Liaise with client site teams to communicate project requirements.
- Coordinate with production teams regarding precast element manufacturing schedules.
- Assist in managing subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare method statements and crane lift plans for approval.
- Maintain detailed records of all site activities.
- Conduct quality checks and compile inspection reports, including BCAR documentation.
- Attend site meetings and communicate outcomes to project teams.
- Support health & safety compliance, toolbox talks, audits, inductions, and documentation.
- Assist with scheduling labour, plant, equipment, and materials.
- Help monitor progress against project programmes.
- Coordinate delivery requirements with transport teams.
- Use AutoCAD, Eurocodes, and Microsoft applications as required.
- Work independently, manage priorities, and maintain strong organisational discipline.
- Demonstrate willingness to develop commercial awareness as part of ongoing CPD.
- Perform any additional duties relevant to the role.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree (Level 7 or 8) in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Ideally 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong mathematical, technical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to plan, manage workloads, and work under pressure.
- Developing leadership, supervisory, and delegation skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Safe Pass and relevant construction tickets advantageous.
- Appointed Persons (Lifting Operations) qualification required.
