Job summary

Octagon Group is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to drive business growth across Ireland and Northern Ireland. This remote-based role involves developing new opportunities, growing accounts, and delivering compelling technical and commercial presentations.

You will work with application specialists to tailor customer solutions, manage the full sales cycle, and report on forecasts and pipelines. A science/engineering degree and strong consultative selling skills are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a technical sales job or scientific instrumentation sales role.
• Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong commercial awareness and consultative selling skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of customers.
• Proven track record of winning new business and developing accounts.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently across Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business opportunities throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
• Grow sales of scientific instrumentation and associated services.
• Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to order completion.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
• Present technical and commercial solutions to prospective clients.
• Work closely with application and support teams to deliver customer solutions.
• Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline reports and business plans.
• Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for growth in Ireland.
