Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer - OpenStack based in Ireland to join a globally distributed team developing OpenStack and Ceph software. You will primarily write Python, contributing to cloud infrastructure automation and large-scale deployments across varied environments.

You will collaborate across borders with engineers, participate in architecture discussions, and occasionally travel internationally for events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related technical discipline.
• Proficient in Python with professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Go, C, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or related tech.
• Experience with OpenStack, OVN, Open vSwitch or related cloud/infrastructure tech.
• Exposure to non-x86 architectures such as ARM64, s390, Power is valuable.
• Strong debugging, code review and collaborative development skills.
• Passion for open-source software, Linux, distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a globally distributed team.
• Willingness to travel internationally 2–4 times/year for 1–2 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software for OpenStack and Ceph deployment and management.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team to design solutions.
• Debug complex issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Review peer code and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure OpenStack and Ceph operate across diverse hardware architectures.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation and IaC using Python.
• Participate in architecture decisions and collaborative problem solving.
• Travel internationally 2–4 times per year for events.
