Rail Project Engineer – MetroLink (Hybrid)

Job summary

WSP in Ireland is delivering the MetroLink programme, a landmark infrastructure project. You will act as the technical lead for a section of the works, overseeing contractor design and construction activities and providing assurance across the project lifecycle.

Working with contractors, engineers and stakeholders, you will resolve complex challenges, monitor progress, and ensure safe, high-quality engineering from design through to handover in a hybrid, flexible environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Proven track record on large infrastructure design/construction.
• Strong background in underground works and rail projects.
• Experience with site surveys, inspections, and asset condition assessments.
• Knowledge of project controls, monitoring, and technical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contractor design and construction activities for the Works.
• Act as technical focal point for design and implementation topics.
• Assist in developing processes to ensure design-to-construction quality.
• Monitor contractor performance and progress against the works programme.
• Review contractor design submissions, interfaces, equipment and materials.
• Manage RFIs, technical clarifications, and changes; handle scope variations.
• Monitor progress and identify/resolve project issues to maintain momentum.
• Lead design reviews, safety and risk assessment activities and constructability reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure clear interface definitions and system design compliance.
• Maintain records and report status to senior management.
