Job summary

WSP Ireland is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the technical delivery of the MetroLink works. You will oversee contractor design and construction activities, review submissions, coordinate interfaces, and provide technical assurance from design through handover.

The role demands Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership, strong underground/rail infrastructure experience, and hands-on leadership in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Proven track record in the design and/or construction of major infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in underground works, including tunnelling, underground stations, structures, and/or rail projects.
• Experienced in site surveys, inspections, and asset condition assessments.
• Good knowledge of project controls, programme monitoring, and technical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contractor design and construction activities.
• Act as technical focal point for design/implementation of a part of the works.
• Assist in developing processes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality from design through to construction and handover.
• Manage performance and quality of the design and construction work by the Contractor and monitor progress against the programme of works.
• Review the Contractor design submissions, interface requirements, equipment and material submissions.
• Facilitate the design process by managing interface details, RFIs, and changes.
• Proactively monitor progress, identify issues, and implement solutions to maintain momentum.
• Lead and/or input to design reviews, risk assessments, safety and maintainability reviews.
• Work with engineers to ensure clear interface requirements across disciplines.
• Maintain records and present contractor reports to senior management.
