Job summary

Pivotal Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major construction project in Dublin. You will handle commercial and contractual aspects, budgets and cost forecasts, and liaise with project teams to keep costs under control.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant Quantity Surveying degree, solid QS experience in construction, and strong cost-management and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• A relevant Quantity Surveying degree is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts.
• Measure and value completed works.
• Prepare interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement and tendering.
• Prepare and review tender documentation and subcontractor quotations.
• Manage subcontractor payments and accounts.
• Assess and manage variations and change orders.
• Monitor project costs against agreed budgets.
• Prepare monthly commercial reports and forecasts.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Managers.
• Maintain accurate commercial documentation and project records.
• Develop strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Support commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage commercial responsibilities through to project completion and final account.

Role Overview

We are looking to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors interested in construction opportunities across Dublin.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working within main contractor, general building or commercial construction environments, who are looking to develop their commercial responsibility and progress their careers.

Suitable candidates may have experience across residential, commercial, healthcare, industrial, education or public-sector construction projects.

Role and Responsibilities

Requirements

• Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry.
• Main contractor experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and cost management.
• Experience with budgets, cost plans and financial forecasting.
• Knowledge of subcontractor procurement and tendering.
• Experience with valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Understanding of variations and change management.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent numerical and analytical ability.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
• Full valid driving licence is advantageous.
