Pivotal Recruitment Limited is seeking experienced Quantity Surveyors for construction roles across Cork. • Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction; main contractor exposure is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, budgets and commercial management.
• Experience with valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Proficient in Excel and QS software tools.

Role Overview

We are looking to speak with experienced Quantity Surveyors interested in construction opportunities across Cork.

We are particularly interested in commercially focused candidates with experience across main contractor and general building projects, who are looking for their next long-term opportunity within the construction industry.

Opportunities may suit Quantity Surveyors with backgrounds across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial and public-sector projects.

Role and Responsibilities

Depending on the position and level of experience, responsibilities may include:

• Manage the commercial and contractual delivery of construction projects.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts.
• Carry out measurement and valuation of works.
• Prepare interim valuations and payment applications.
• Manage the procurement and appointment of subcontractors.
• Prepare tender documentation and assess subcontractor submissions.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Assess and negotiate variations and change orders.
• Monitor project expenditure and overall commercial performance.Prepare accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts.
• Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Management and Commercial teams.
• Maintain accurate commercial and contractual records.
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Provide commercial input throughout project delivery.
• Manage accounts through to project completion and final account.

Requirements

• Relevant Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction.
• Main contractor experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control and commercial management.
• Experience preparing and managing budgets and forecasts.
• Experience with valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Good understanding of subcontractor procurement.
• Experience managing variations and change control.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
• Excellent numerical and analytical ability.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant QS/commercial software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
• Full valid driving licence is advantageous.
