Job summary

Elysearch and Placement is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead end-to-end steel packages across European and Nordic projects. You will own design handover, BIM modelling, fabrication, and site handover, acting as primary contact for international clients and main contractors.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and change processes, oversee QA/QC and RAMS, and mentor a team of PMs. A degree in structural/civil engineering or construction management and 5+ years' experience are

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related technical discipline preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience managing large projects with a general contractor and structural steel or architectural metalwork.
• Proven track record delivering packages for pharma plants, data centres or large residential schemes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; exposure to 3D modelling/BIM (Tekla, Revit, Navisworks).

• End-to-End Delivery: manage steel packages from design coordination through detailing, fabrication, logistics and site erection.
• Programme Management: develop and maintain realistic schedules using MS Project or Primavera P6 with strict adherence to critical paths.
• Budgetary Control: monitor and control project budgets and cost performance.
• Change Management: handle RFIs and variations to avoid project slippage and ensure timely communication.
• Safety, QA/QC: ensure RAMS, safety on site, and QA/QC trace documentation are maintained.

Job description

My client are a fast growing, end-to-end steel fabrication and engineering firm specializing in the design, manufacture, and installation of high-end structural and architectural steelwork. Operating across mainland Europe and the Nordic region, they deliver critical infrastructure across three core sectors: high-tech facilities (such as data centres), pharmaceutical production plants, and major residential housing developments.

They now have an opportunity to add to their project management team with an experienced project manager. There is an immediate team management role ( managing other PM's ) available for the right person with a real career path available.

Role Summary

The Project Manager will take full ownership of steelwork packages from initial concept and design handover through to factory fabrication and final site handover across our European and Nordic project portfolio. You will be the primary point of contact for international clients, tier-1 main contractors, and internal teams (design, workshop, and site installation).

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• End-to-End Delivery: Manage structural and architectural steel packages from initial design coordination through detailing, BIM/modelling, workshop fabrication, logistics, and site erection.
• Programme Management: Develop and maintain realistic project schedules using software like MS Project or Primavera P6, ensuring strict adherence to critical paths and client site milestones.

Commercial & Contractual Management

• Budgetary Control: Monitor and control project budgets.
• Change Management: Identify variations, manage Requests for Information (RFIs), and issue technical queries promptly to avoid project slippage.

Sector-Specific Oversight

• Pharma & High-Tech: Ensure absolute compliance with stringent cleanroom protocols, strict building services coordination, and intensive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) trace documentation.
• Housing Developments: Manage high-volume, multi-phase deliveries of architectural steelwork (balconies, balustrades, stairs) and structural frames, aligning precisely with the main contractor's residential build cycle.

Health, Safety, & Quality Control

• Safety Leadership: Enforce strict health and safety standards on site, ensuring the development of robust Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for complex crane lifts and steel erection.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

• Education: A Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline is highly preferred.
• Industry Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience directly managing large project with a general contractor and structural steel or architectural metalwork project experience would be a distinct bonus.
• Sector Knowledge: Proven track record of delivering construction packages within pharmaceutical plants, data centres, or large-scale residential schemes.
• Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, with exposure to 3D modelling and BIM environments (e.g., Tekla, Revit, Navisworks).
