Job summary

Barden, on behalf of a leading telecommunications client, seeks a privacy and AI lawyer to handle DPAs, DPIAs, and regulatory interactions in Ireland. You will advise on GDPR/ePrivacy and emerging AI governance frameworks, while supporting product and technology teams on privacy matters. 3+ PQE and UK/Irish qualification are essential.

The role involves collaborating with DPC and EU authorities as needed and shaping privacy policies and procedures across the business.

Qualifications

  • Irish or UK qualified lawyer.
  • 3+ years' PQE in privacy/data protection.
  • Strong experience in data protection and privacy.
  • Experience advising on AI governance or tech regulation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating DPAs and assisting with data breach responses.
  • Conducting DPIAs and AI risk assessments.
  • Advising on GDPR, ePrivacy, and EU AI Act frameworks.
  • Collaborating with product, governance, marketing and tech teams on privacy compliance.
  • Ensuring privacy/AI policies are compliant and implemented.

Job description

Barden has been engaged by a leading telecommunications company looking to hire a privacy and AI lawyer.

THE ROLE
  • Drafting and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), support on response to and investigations of data protection incidents, and interact as necessary with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and other EU supervisory authorities;
  • Conducting and advising on data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and AI risk assessments.
  • Advising on all applicable data protection laws, including GDPR and ePrivacy Regulations, as well as emerging regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act, Data Act, NIS2 and CER;
  • Supporting product, governance, marketing and technology teams on privacy and AI compliance matters;
  • Ensuring that privacy and AI-related policies and procedures are compliant and implemented appropriately;

THE PERSON
  • Irish or UK qualified lawyer;
  • 3+ years' PQE;
  • Excellent experience data protection and privacy experience as detailed above;
  • Experience advising on AI governance, digital regulation or technology-related legal matters is an advantage.
