Job summary

KBRA is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the Dublin or London office and lead privacy and data protection within the legal function. You will draft and negotiate complex contracts, advise on GDPR/UK GDPR, cross‑border transfers, and AI governance, and collaborate with Compliance, Technology, and regulators.

The role includes training, preparing board materials, and supporting regulatory inquiries, with 4–8 years PQE and solicitor admission in Ireland or the UK.

Qualifications

• Qualifying law degree and solicitor admission in Ireland or England & Wales with current practising certificate or eligibility.
• 4–8 years post‑qualification experience with hands‑on privacy/data protection exposure.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and contract review experience (DPAs, vendor & client contracts).
• Knowledge of GDPR EU/UK, cross‑border data transfers, ePrivacy, vendor risk, cybersecurity basics.
• IAPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise on international data privacy laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA/CPRA) and conduct DPIAs/LIAs.
• Lead incident/breach response, vendor due diligence, and cross‑border transfer mechanisms (SCCs, BCRs).
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements and provide training across teams.
• Prepare board materials and liaise with regulators and external counsel.
