Job summary

The Law Society seeks a Data Privacy Specialist/Paralegal to join the privacy team on a 12-month contract, ASAP start, supporting GDPR compliance and operations in a fast-paced, global tech environment.

Responsibilities include managing GDPR data subject rights, coordinating privacy cases, and maintaining auditable records, while liaising with the DPO and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver compliant outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Previous exposure to data privacy, GDPR, data subject rights, or related legal matters.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple cases, priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to explain privacy issues clearly.
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail, discretion, and practical approach.
  • Comfort working with technology, structured data, workflow tools; AI-enabled tools helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Manage GDPR-related data subject rights requests (access, erasure, rectification, etc.).
  • Coordinate end-to-end privacy cases: triage, identity verification, searches, follow-up, closure.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of requests, decisions, and deadlines.
  • Assist with DPIAs, LIAs, and related privacy assessments and docs.
  • Collaborate with DPO, Privacy team, Legal, Security, Product, Engineering, and Customer Care.

Job description

Their customer, a leading multinational technology company, is seeking a Data Privacy Specialist/Paralegal to join their privacy team on a long-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with an interest in data privacy to gain hands-on experience supporting GDPR compliance and operations within a reputable fast-paced, global tech organisation.

Contract: 12 months initial contract, with strong potential for extension

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and respond to GDPR-related data subject rights requests, including access, erasure/right to be forgotten, rectification, restriction, portability, and objection requests. Right to be forgotten support on Search will form a prominent part of the role
  • Coordinate the end-to-end handling of privacy cases, including triage, identity verification, searches, stakeholder follow-up, quality checks, response preparation, and closure.
  • Support day-to-day privacy operations and help maintain accurate, complete, and auditable records of requests, decisions, correspondence, and deadlines.
  • Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and related privacy risk assessments and documentation.
  • Work closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO), Privacy team, Legal, Security, Product, Engineering, Customer Care, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant outcomes.
  • Support privacy projects, process improvements, operational reporting, and the development of practical guidance and playbooks.
  • Help implement, test, and improve AI-enabled privacy workflows and tools, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency while maintaining appropriate human oversight, confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance controls.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose improvements to procedures, templates, training materials, and supporting systems.
Key Requirements
  • Previous exposure to, or experience in, data privacy, GDPR, data subject rights, or related legal and regulatory matters.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain privacy issues clearly to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail, discretion, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Confidence working with technology, structured data, workflow tools, and process documentation; experience with automation or AI-enabled tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a fast-paced, international environment.
  • IAPP certification (CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT) is desirable, or a genuine interest in obtaining an IAPP qualification.
  • Experience working with DPIAs, LIAs, privacy case-management systems, or data discovery tools is advantageous.
