Job summary

Brightwater Recruitment is seeking a Data, Privacy and AI Governance Specialist to join its team in Ireland. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with data protection regulation and data governance frameworks within an insurance setting, with emphasis on AI governance.

The successful candidate will bring solid knowledge of data protection law, experience in privacy impact assessments, and the ability to oversee new data and AI use cases end to end.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Law, Business Administration or a related field. A Master’s or relevant certification (CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE, AIGP, AIPP) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in data protection, privacy law or a related field, ideally within insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and GDPR.
  • Experience conducting privacy and ethics impact assessments.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practice.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Detail-oriented, with a firm commitment to data integrity and protection.
  • Experience in a multinational organisation.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their impact on data protection and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Data Protection Officer / AI Trust Officer and Data Governance Specialist to align data protection and governance strategy.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and applicable data protection law.
  • Conduct privacy and AI governance impact assessments across existing processes and new data, AI and business use cases.
  • Develop, implement and maintain governance frameworks and guidelines with key stakeholders to safeguard the integrity, security and appropriate use of data and AI.
  • Guide the business on new use cases, ensuring they meet internal data protection and governance standards.
  • Identify and mitigate data, privacy and AI risks through proactive measures and continuous monitoring.
  • Assess data breaches, notify the Data Protection Officer / AI Trust Officer, and support the maintenance of records of processing activities under GDPR.
  • Support a privacy and responsible-AI-by-design culture across the organisation.
