Job summary

Dell Technologies invites applications for a Principal Software Engineer within the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) in Cork. You will contribute across the software development life cycle, collaborating with product owners, architects, and AI agents to deliver robust, scalable infrastructure software.

You will leverage expertise in C/C++, Java or Python, drive system design, and mentor junior colleagues to accelerate progress and impact in enterprise-scale storage and AI-enabled platforms.

Qualifications

• Exceptional programming skills with 5+ years of related experience in C, C++, Java or Python.
• Experience in filesystem/ distributed systems.
• Ability to translate business requirements into precise, unambiguous technical specs.
• Excellent analytical, debugging & problem solving skills.
• Advanced prompting and context engineering to guide AI tools toward desired outputs.
• Experience in software architecture: system design, API design, microservices, distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Work on all aspects of software development life cycle: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Author and manage detailed technical specifications
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, AI agents and other engineers to define and implement technical solutions
• Coach and mentor more junior team members
