Job summary

Dell Technologies Cork is seeking a Software Senior Principal Engineer to help design and build high-impact infrastructure software. You will work across the software development life cycle, translate complex requirements into precise technical specs, and collaborate with architects, product owners and AI-enabled tooling to deliver robust solutions at enterprise scale.

You will mentor teammates, drive architectural choices, and shape the direction of critical storage and data management

Qualifications

8+ years of related software engineering experience.
Experience in filesystem/distributed systems.
Ability to translate business requirements into precise, unambiguous technical specs.
Excellent analytical, debugging & problem solving skills.
Advanced prompting and context engineering to guide AI tools toward desired outputs.
Experience in software architecture: system design, API design, microservices, distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Work on all aspects of software development life cycle: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Author and manage detailed technical specifications
Collaborate with product owners, architects, AI agents and other engineers to define and implement technical solutions
Coach and mentor more junior team members
