Job summary

Dell Technologies is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer in Cork, Ireland. You will join the Unstructured Data Storage group, contributing to the Dell AI Platform components like PowerScale and ObjectScale, building enterprise-grade, massively scalable storage systems, and shaping the next generation of AI-enabled storage solutions.

You will lead design and implementation across the software lifecycle, collaborate with product owners and AI agents, and coach junior engineers while

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience, preferably in C, C++, Java or Python.
• Experience in filesystem/ distributed systems
• Ability to translate business requirements into precise, unambiguous technical specs
• Excellent analytical, debugging & problem solving skills
• Advanced prompting and context engineering to guide AI tools toward desired outputs
• Experience in software architecture: system design, API design, microservices, distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Work on all aspects of the software development life cycle: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Author and manage detailed technical specifications
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, AI agents and other engineers to define and implement technical solutions
• Coach and mentor more junior team members
