Job description

Job Description
The Role

Are you looking to join a highly collaborative, fast‑paced organization where you can help shape the future of portfolio management technology and drive transformative business solutions? Equity remains one of the most critical and innovative segments of global financial markets, and our Portfolio Management & Research Technology team is building the next generation of portfolio management capabilities that support multiple teams across the Equity business. We are seeking a Principal, Product Manager who is energized by the complexities of portfolio management technology, and motivated by the opportunity to influence a platform used by portfolio managers, analysts, and traders.

As Principal, Product Manager, you will blend your passion for product leadership to deliver meaningful value for our stakeholders and cross‑company partners. In this role, you serve as the end‑to‑end owner of your delivery teams’ culture and execution. Operating within an agile structure, you will collaborate with other teams in your product area and across the domain, partner with business stakeholders to shape the product roadmap, and align resources to the highest‑value opportunities. You will define and refine quarterly goals, and lead a focused, empowered team to deliver capabilities that help our users with their investment decision making. Through continuous planning, prioritization, and stewardship of the product backlog, you will ensure shared clarity on the why and the what that shape when work is executed. You will enable your delivery teams to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation, and learn quickly from feedback loops — all while maintaining a disciplined approach to quality, stability, and performance.

The Value You Deliver
  • Project Vision: Define the project’s objectives and capabilities to advance the Portfolio Management product vision while effectively addressing the needs of business partners.
  • Requirements Gathering: Partner with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, prioritize, and document business, functional, and system requirements.
  • Technical Translation: Transform business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable successful delivery by development teams.
  • Process Analysis: Analyze current‑state workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend opportunities for process optimization and automation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Facilitate meetings, workshops, demonstrations, and ongoing collaboration to ensure alignment between business and technology teams. Develop a deep understanding of partner needs, proactively anticipate challenges, and serve as the voice of the customer throughout execution.
  • Solution Validation: Support testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance activities to ensure delivered solutions meet business requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Data Analysis: Leverage data and insights to support decision‑making, validate assumptions, measure outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Documentation & Standards: Maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and artifacts related to requirements, business processes, system changes, and operating procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements to existing systems and processes by incorporating performance metrics, user feedback, and evolving business needs.
  • Prioritization & Trade‑Off Management: Make informed prioritization and trade‑off decisions that balance strategic objectives, tactical needs, resource constraints, and business value.
  • Team Development & Delivery Excellence: Foster a high‑performing, empowered team that leverages proven frameworks, best practices, and standard processes while maintaining a focus on quality and delivery excellence.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Provide candid feedback and employ a solutions‑oriented mindset to proactively identify, assess, and address organizational, product, and delivery risks.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineering leaders, program and project managers, and delivery teams to build organizational capabilities, enhance capacity, and support continuous learning and professional development.
The Skills and Expertise You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree (or above) in technology related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in business/systems analysis, product owner, and/or product management.
  • Committed to developing a balance of business domain knowledge and technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers and products.
  • Take a data‑focused approach and regularly seek out the expertise of colleagues to understand customer requirements, propose solutions, and measure results.
  • Experience in writing user/system stories and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Derive epics and end‑to‑end workflows that can be broken down into stories with well‑defined business value and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of an organization.
  • Effective problem solver with proven ability to address root causes to high‑impact problems.
  • Established proficiency in conveying ideas and recommendations to impact a wide range of team members.
