Job summary

CPL is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead a team within our Asset Management Technology group. You will be a hands-on developer contributing to building a suite of Micro-Services and UIs.

The team designs and implements technical solutions for Retirement and College Savings platforms. You will influence standards across unit testing, automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and code reviews while collaborating with Portfolio Analysts and Managers on large assets under management.

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent and you want to learn more.
  • A minimum of 10 years of design and development experience.
  • Experience in Java, SpringBoot, RESTful services and Angular or similar.
  • DevOps enablers such as Maven and Jenkins.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL & PLSQL.
  • Exposure to AWS or Kubernetes is advantageous.
  • Kafka or similar messaging frameworks is a plus.
  • Investment management/business domain insight is helpful but not required.

Job description

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to lead a team within our client's Asset Management Technology group. You will be a hands‑on developer contributing to building a suite of Micro‑Services and UIs. The team is responsible for designing & implementing technical solutions for the Asset Management Solutions division which provides retirement and college saving solutions.

The Expertise And Skills You Bring
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent and you want to learn more.
  • A minimum of 10 years of design & development experience.
  • Experience in Java, SpringBoot, RESTful services and Angular or similar
  • DevOps enablers such as Maven and Jenkins
  • Karate, Playwright, Storybook or similar testing frameworks is a plus
  • As well as experience in Oracle SQL & PLSQL
  • Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Kubernetes would be an advantage
  • Messaging frameworks such as Kafka would be good but not necessary
  • Investment Management/Business Domain business insight would be advantage, but it is not required.

  • Ability to manage priorities effectively across multiple workstreams
  • Ability to triage, complete root cause analysis, and ability to make sound decisions in complex or time‑sensitive situations
  • Ability to promote and set standards in applying practices across the team in areas such as Unit testing, Automation, DevOps, CI/CD, design, and code reviews
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups, both in person and virtually, in a constructive and collaborative manner and build and maintain effective relationships

In this role, you will be contributing to the development of quality software components that are used by Portfolio Analysts and Managers in managing over $950 Billion assets under management held in Retirement & College Savings solutions. You will have chance to engage, shape and contribute to our suite of Micro‑Services and UIs that provides building, modeling and trading capabilities for these solutions.
