Job summary

Product Manager – Fund Technology / Investment Operations

Fund Administration / Fund Accounting experience is essential

An established and growing Fin Tech organisation is looking for an experienced Product Manager / Product Owner with a strong background in fund administration, fund accounting or investment operations to join its Product team.

This is a highly client-facing role sitting at the intersection of investment operations, product and technology. You'll work with sophisticated investment organisations to understand their operating models, identify opportunities for improvement and help shape how a modern technology platform is implemented within their environment.

Importantly, this is not a general financial services Product role. We're specifically looking for candidates who have worked within complex fund administration environments, ideally supporting hedge funds, private equity, alternative investments or institutional-scale assets.

Experience within traditional retail/daily funds, insurance or mainstream banking environments alone is unlikely to be sufficient.

The Opportunity

The organisation is investing heavily in its Product capability and is looking for someone who can bring genuine fund domain expertise into the technology and implementation process.

You'll work across the full client lifecycle, from pre-sales and discovery through to implementation, helping clients understand not just how the platform can replicate their existing processes, but how technology can fundamentally improve them.

You'll act as the bridge between sophisticated clients and internal engineering teams, ensuring that each implementation reflects the specific requirements and nuances of the client's operating environment.

What You'll Do

• Act as the key link between fund operations, product and engineering
• Challenge clients constructively and help them understand what a modern technology-enabled operating model could look like

Background

Your fund experience is the critical piece.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked in fund administration, fund accounting or investment operations, with exposure to sophisticated clients such as:

• Hedge funds
• Alternative investment managers
• Institutional investment organisations
• Complex / enterprise-scale fund structures
• Large-scale fund administration environments

You may have built your career within a fund administrator, fund services provider or investment technology environment, working closely with sophisticated institutional or alternative investment clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience comparable to the environments found within major fund services organisations.

Product & Technical Experience

Alongside your fund expertise, we're looking for strength in Product Ownership, technical product management or client-facing technology delivery.

You could come from a number of backgrounds — Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst or potentially a technical engineering/testing background that has transitioned into product.

You'll ideally have experience in one or more of:

• Product ownership / product management
• Backlog management and prioritisation
• Requirements gathering and specification
• User stories and acceptance criteria
• Client-facing technology deliveryAPIs and integrations
• SQL
• Python / Jupyter Notebooks
• Working closely with software engineering teams

You don't need to be a developer, but you do need to be technically credible. You'll need to understand APIs and integrations and be comfortable having detailed conversations with engineers about how technology needs to work within a client's existing environment.

Client Presence Matters

This is a role for someone who enjoys being in front of clients.

You'll need to be comfortable leading conversations with senior stakeholders, presenting complex concepts, challenging existing processes and influencing clients towards new ways of working.

We're looking for someone who can establish credibility quickly, communicate with confidence and translate complex technology into clear operational and commercial value.
