Job summary

Eir Business is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our IT Managed Services team, supporting a key enterprise customer. The role is a senior technical escalation point, focusing on resolving complex network and security incidents and optimising environments.

The position requires hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Aruba WLAN, Cisco LAN/WAN/WLAN, Fortigate and related security platforms, and a proactive approach within ITIL-based incident and change management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a Network Engineer in Enterprise or Managed Services
• Expertise in Switching technologies (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba)
• Strong Palo Alto NGFW experience required
• Hands-on with Cisco ASA/Firepower, Meraki MX, Palo Alto, FortiGate firewalls
• Strong understanding of VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, SD WAN)
• Experience with enterprise environments
• Ability to diagnose complex network issues across multi-vendor environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, ITIL knowledge

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a growing Managed Services team following ITIL-based processes
• Collaborate with technical experts and managers to design and optimise client networks
• Investigate and diagnose complex network faults and determine contributing events
• Drive resolution and recovery activities to minimise customer impact
• Act as senior network escalation point for other ICT teams
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and integrators as required
• Configure and optimise switching, routing, firewall, and wireless across Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortigate
• Manage VPN services including site-to-site, client VPN and SD-WAN configurations
• Implement and maintain firewall rules and security policies
• Maintain diagrams, documentation, and knowledge content
• Assess proposed network changes and governance within change management

Eir Business is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our IT Managed Services team supporting a key enterprise customer. This is a senior technical role acting as an escalation point, responsible for resolving complex network and security incidents, optimising environments, and ensuring reliable service delivery.

Experience with networking and security concepts is essential, with particular focus on Palo Alto, along with hands‑on exposure to technologies such as Aruba WLAN, Cisco LAN, WAN, WLAN and network security platforms. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and the ability to operate within ITIL‑based incident and change management processes are key to success in this role

This is a 6 month daily rate contract.

Expectations From TheRole:

Work as part of a growing Managed Services team with procedures based on the ITIL Framework and governed by ISO 20000

Collaborate with technical experts and business managers to support, design, and optimise client network solutions

Investigate and diagnose complex network faults - identify failing components, confirm impact, and determine contributing events

Drive resolution and recovery activities, ensuring minimal impact to customer environments

Act as the senior network escalation point for other ICT support teams

Coordinate with other ICT teams and third parties (ISPs, vendors, integrators) when required

Configure, support, and optimise switching, routing, firewall, and wireless solutions across Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Palo Alto, and Fortigate technologies

Manage VPN services including site to site, client VPN, and SD WAN configurations

Implement and maintain firewall rules, security policies, and network access controls

Perform structured patching and ensure accurate documentation, diagrams, and knowledge management content

Assess proposed network changes, highlight potential impacts, and contribute to governance within the change management process

Participate in the On Call Support rota as part of a senior escalation team

Requirements For ASuccessful Application:

5+ years' experience working as a Network Engineer in an Enterprise or Managed Services environment

Expertise in Switching technologies (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba)

Strong Palo Alto NGFW experience is required.

Hands on experience with firewall technologies: Cisco ASA/Firepower, Meraki MX, Palo Alto, and FortiGate

Strong understanding of VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, Remote Access, SD WAN)

Experience with enterprise environments

Ability to troubleshoot and identify complex network issues across multi vendor environments

Excellent communication skills and confidence in managing expectations of senior technical staff and senior management

ITIL knowledge and experience
