Job summary

FRS Recruitment is supporting an established Irish business in appointing a Financial Controller for a 4-day week in Tipperary. The role reports to the Managing Director and owns the finance function end-to-end.

Responsibilities include delivering monthly management accounts, budgeting and cash-flow management, and partnering with operations to drive profitability. Senior finance experience and a hands-on, SME-friendly approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA – essential.
• Excellent management accounting and financial reporting capability.
• Strong commercial and business partnering skills.
• Previous people management experience.
• Hands-on approach – able to lead finance and dive into detail.
• Manufacturing/production/operational experience is advantageous.
• SME experience particularly relevant.

Financial Controller – Tipperary

4 Days per Week | Permanent

I’m partnering with an established and growing Irish business to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 4-day-per-week basis.

This is a key leadership appointment, reporting directly to the Managing Director and taking ownership of the finance function.

It’s a hands‑on FC role with a strong focus on accurate and timely reporting, commercial insight, cash flow and partnering with the wider business.

The Role

• Lead the finance function and oversee day-to-day financial operations
• Deliver monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Cash flow and working capital management
• Management of the payroll function
• Provide commercial analysis around costs, margins and profitability
• Strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting
• Oversee AP, AR, GL, fixed assets and payroll
• Manage statutory compliance, tax and audit
• Partner closely with the MD and management team
• Work with Operations, Production and Sales to support decision‑making
• Lead and develop the finance team
• Drive continuous improvement across Finance

What I’m Looking For

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA – essential
• Strong Financial Controller / Finance Manager / senior finance experience
• Excellent management accounting and financial reporting capability
• Strong commercial and business partnering skills
• Previous people management experience
• Hands‑on approach – comfortable both leading Finance and getting into the detail
• Manufacturing, construction or another operational/production environment would be a strong advantage
• SME experience particularly relevant
