Job summary

Coinbase EU Legal team seeks an experienced lawyer to advise European businesses on regulatory questions shaping product launches, markets, and customer service. You’ll partner with business leaders, Compliance, and the global Legal team to drive decisions that advance Coinbase’s mission to increase economic freedom.

You’ll monitor developments, support advocacy for effective regulation, and help manage international growth across jurisdictions, time zones, and teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience advising EU e‑money, payment services, or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of EU financial services regulation (PSD2, MiFID II).
• Digital asset expertise, including MiCAR registration regimes.
• Experience engaging with European regulators (CSSF, Central Bank of Ireland).
• Excellent writing skills and ability to advise executives.
• In‑house or law firm background.
• Ability to manage complex cross‑border projects and time zones.
• Demonstrates responsible use of AI tools in daily workflows.

Responsibilities

• Advise on EU and international e‑money, payment services, financial services, and digital asset requirements.
• Advise regional operating entities on new products, intercompany arrangements, and banking partnerships.
• Guide product launches and market expansion across jurisdictions with regional counsel.
• Monitor regulatory developments and support Coinbase’s advocacy for regulation.
• Assess risks and propose practical solutions to support international growth.
• Manage outside counsel and maintain internal expertise.
