Job summary

Payward is seeking an EU/UK qualified attorney to join its in-house Labor & Employment team, working remotely from the EU/UK. You will lead EU/UK employment matters, advise on data privacy, and support M&A-related workforce integration across a rapidly expanding global workforce.

You will partner with senior leadership and the PX team to implement compliant, scalable policies and training, while staying ahead of evolving regulations and industry trends in crypto and fintech.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience advising in the EU, UK and other jurisdictions on employment, labor, and executive compensation issues.
• Broad international labor and employment background.
• Experience advising on works councils, collective consultation, and employee representative bodies in the EU and/or UK.
• Experience advising on employee and candidate data privacy issues under the GDPR and UK GDPR.
• Hands-on proficiency using generative AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) in day-to-day legal work.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, using the law to increase the company’s optionality.

Responsibilities

• Augment the L&E legal team as the EU/UK expert, providing local-law advice in European time zones and coordinating with global teams.
• Own recurring EU/UK employment matters: worker classification, separations, employee relations, executive compensation, wage-and-hour matters.
• Develop the L&E practice for a growing global workforce in collaboration with PX and leadership.
• Advise on works council, consultation, pay transparency, and employee representation; prepare for new obligations during restructurings/acquisitions.
• Support M&A due diligence and post-closing workforce integration for European acquisitions.
• Craft policies and training, localizing global policies for EU/UK requirements.
• Advise on data privacy issues including GDPR/UK GDPR and cross-border transfers.
• Assist with workplace investigations in EU/UK, including whistleblower and performance issues.
• Provide strategic input on global footprint expansion, including EOR and entity decisions in Europe.
• Advise on trade secrets and restrictive covenants; manage outside counsel for local opinions and pre-litigation matters.
• Monitor global L&E trends and advise on talent acquisition/retention and workplace processes.
• Handle additional duties as required.
