Job summary

Kraken seeks a senior Product Regulatory Legal professional to guide EU product launches and licensing strategies. You will work with Product, Design and Engineering to determine which regimes apply and how to launch within them, across MiFID II, MiCA, EMIR, PSD2/EMD2, and banking rules.

You will advise on payments, custody, sponsorship banks, and open banking, while supervising outside counsel and mentoring junior lawyers in a fast-moving, remote EU environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' post-qualification experience in financial services regulatory law.
• Deep knowledge of EU financial services regimes across multiple products.
• Proven ability to classify products and advise on regulatory perimeter.

Responsibilities

• Own cross-functional EU product counselling from discovery to launch with clear options and risk trade-offs.
• Advise on regulatory perimeter across MiFID II/MiFIR, MiCA, EMIR and payments/e-money rules.
• Advise on card, custody, prime brokerage, and banking regulation within EU regimes.
• Draft and negotiate client-facing terms and conditions for EU launches.
• Lead regulator engagements; scope work, estimate costs, and manage external counsel.
• Mentor junior lawyers and promote plain-English, risk-based advice.
• Utilize AI tools to speed regulatory analysis and build self-service resources.
