Job summary

WSP in Ireland is seeking a Technical Lead – Engineering Design Manager to spearhead the growth of our Electricity Transmission & Distribution service line from our Dublin, Naas, or Belfast offices. You will manage design teams, lead FEED and detailed design, and drive bid opportunities with ESB and EirGrid.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status or progress toward it, and a track record delivering high‑quality HV/MV infrastructure projects within Ireland's transmission network.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status.
• Experience in HV/MV design for Ireland's Transmission System including ESB/EirGrid contexts preferred.
• Management of multi-disciplinary engineering teams (HV cables, Protection & Control, Substation Primary Design, Civil, OHL).
• Proven bid management, proposal writing, and winning work.

Responsibilities

• Lead design management activities across FEED and detailed design phases.
• Coordinate inputs from electrical, civil, and primary disciplines to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Ensure outputs align with project objectives, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
• Oversee adherence to standards and client specifications; support monitoring and assurance.
