Job summary

High Hopes Montessori and Afterschool is seeking an Early Years and Afterschool Educator to join our caring team. The role covers a broad age range from toddlers to early school age, delivering planned activities while supervising and guiding children in a safe environment.

You will work Monday to Friday, 10:30am to 5:30pm during term time, collaborating with managers and staff, liaising with parents, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum QQI Level 5 in Childcare or higher.
• Ability to guide, observe, stimulate and supervise children in a safe caring environment.
• Excellent spoken and written English required.

Responsibilities

• Be willing to work with children of various ages.
• Make weekly plans and support children with homework.
• Supervise and engage children in play and learning activities.
• Follow service policies and procedures at all times.
• Maintain hygiene, clean and tidy equipment and rooms.

Early Years and Afterschool Educator Required

We are currently looking to recruit an early years and afterschool educator teacher here in High Hopes Montessori and Afterschool. This is a setting caring for children from 2 years and 8 months to 12 years.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 10:30am to 5:30pm / Term time

Qualifications and personal qualities: The candidate must have a minimum QQI Level 5 in Childcare or higher.Ability to guide, observe, stimulate and supervise children in a safe caring environment as part of the childcare team. Good communication with children and staff. To work in close co-operation with the managers and other team members and liaise with parents and keep parents informed of the children’s progress and well-being.Have a sense of humour, good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.Excellent spoken and written English required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Be willing to work with children of various ages. Perform a variety of task such as making weekly plans, supporting children with homework, supervision, conduct observations of children and engaging in play. Follow the policies and procedures of the service at all times. Cleaning, tidying and storage of equipment and toys after use. Coordinate the implementation of activities suitable for different age groups. Maintain room and equipment, to ensure the health and safety of children at all times. Ensure a good standard of hygiene. Organise material and toys to the benefit of children. Support children’s development – emotional, social, physical and cognitive in carrying out activities. Attend meetings and undergo training as required. Be aware of child protection procedures and advise managers should you have any concerns about a child. Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children and their families will constitute gross misconduct. Be professional at all times. Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Salary: Negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
