Requirements
- Minimum QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care & Education (Level 6 or higher preferred)
- Knowledge of Aistear, Síolta, and child development best practices
- Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Duties
- Plan, implement and review play-based learning experiences appropriate to the age group being worked with: guided by Aistear and Síolta in the early years rooms, and by the National Quality Guidelines for School Age Childcare Services in the afterschool service.
- Provide warm, responsive care for assigned children, including personal care, mealtimes and rest routines in the early years rooms, and snack, homework support and self-care in the afterschool service.
- Ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of every child at all times, maintaining required supervision, ratios, registers and authorised collection procedures.
- Carry out school collection duties as rostered, including children collected on foot from Kill of the Grange school and children collected by bus, maintaining accurate collection registers and headcounts throughout.
- Complete observations, learning stories and developmental records for assigned early years children and contribute to individual planning, including AIM support where applicable.
- Work in partnership with parents and guardians through daily handovers, updates on progress and attendance at parent meetings, and elevate any concern to the Lead Educator or Manager.
- Promote inclusion, positive behaviour and emotional resilience through consistent, respectful guidance and role modelling across both age groups.
- Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment in both settings, including the setting up, care and packing down of rooms, resources and equipment.
- Comply with the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016, the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Registration of School Age Services) Regulations 2018, the Children First Act 2015 and all Employer policies and procedures; report any child protection concern immediately to the Designated Liaison Person.
- Attend team meetings, mandatory training and continuous professional development, and maintain the qualifications and Garda vetting required to work in the sector.
