Job summary

Little Scholars Montessori & Childcare in Rush, Co. Dublin, is seeking an Afterschool Co‑Ordinator to support children aged 4–12 in a safe, engaging environment. The role is part-time (22.5 hours/week) with after-school and school-term hours, including occasional full-day coverage during closures.

A competitive hourly rate is offered. You will work with a small team to manage up to 24 children, ensuring safety, meals, and smooth daily routines, while supporting inspections and Lead Educator

Qualifications

  • Experience in childcare, preschool, or afterschool setting.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
  • Training in HACCP, FAR (First Aid Response), Manual Handling and Children First/Child Protection desirable.
  • Training can be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operation of afterschool service for up to 24 children.
  • Ensure safety, wellbeing and development in a nurturing environment.
  • Assist with serving hot meals prepared daily.
  • Support Lead Educator with daily routines and classroom setup.
  • Assist with inspections and cover Lead Educator during leave.
  • Lead classroom and act as main contact during absence.

Job description

Afterschool Co‑Ordinator

Little Scholars Montessori & Childcare is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and organised Afterschool Co‑Ordinator to join our dedicated team in Rush, Co. Dublin.

This role is based within our After School Care (SAC) service, supporting children aged 4–12 years in a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

Hours of Work

This is a part‑time position of 22.5 hours per week during the school term:

  • Monday to Friday: 1:30pm – 6:00pm (38 weeks per year)
  • During school closures (approximately 13 weeks per year), the hours are 8:45am – 6:00pm.
  • We close Christmas week

Competitive salary, based on qualifications and experience.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support the day‑to‑day operation of our afterschool service, catering for a maximum of 24 children. A minimum of two adults are always on site.
  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and development of all children in your care, creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
  • Assist with serving a hot meal to the children. Meals are delivered fresh daily and require heating before serving.
  • Support the Lead Educator in maintaining the daily routine, organisation, and smooth running of the classroom.
  • Assist the Lead Educator in preparing for and participating in inspections as required.
  • Step into the role of Person in Charge/Lead Educator during periods of annual leave or sick leave. Responsibilities during these periods include:
  • Leading the classroom and supporting the staff team.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for the school and, where appropriate, parents.
  • Undertaking designated responsibilities, including First Aid Officer and Mandated Person duties (where qualified).
  • Ensuring the continued smooth operation of the service.

Full support and guidance will be provided by the owner whenever you are covering the Lead role.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working in a childcare, preschool, or afterschool setting.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
  • A warm, positive, and professional approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications, including HACCP, FAR (First Aid Response), Manual Handling, and Children First/Child Protection, are desirable but not essential. Training can be provided for the right candidate.
