Job summary

The Early Years Academy Limited in Ireland is seeking an Early Years and Afterschool Educator to join our team. You will deliver play-based learning, support children’s development and maintain a safe environment across both early years and afterschool settings.

Role requires QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care & Education, 1-3 years of relevant experience, and a commitment to inclusive practice. 45.25 hours per week with a focus on quality care and partnerships with families.

Qualifications

• Minimum QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care & Education (Level 6+ preferred).
• Knowledge of Aistear, Síolta, and child development best practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and review play-based learning experiences for the age group; guided by Aistear and Síolta in the early years rooms, and by the National Quality Guidelines for School Age Childcare Services in the afterschool service.
• Provide warm, responsive care for assigned children, including personal care, mealtimes and rest routines in the early years rooms, and snack, homework support and self-care in the afterschool service.
• Ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of every child at all times, maintaining required supervision, ratios, registers and authorised collection procedures.
• Carry out school collection duties as rostered, including children collected on foot from Kill of the Grange school and children collected by bus, maintaining accurate collection registers and headcounts throughout.
• Complete observations, learning stories and developmental records for assigned early years children and contribute to individual planning, including AIM support where applicable.
• Work in partnership with parents and guardians through daily handovers, updates on progress and attendance at parent meetings, and escalate to the Lead Educator or Manager.
• Promote inclusion, positive behaviour and emotional resilience through consistent, respectful guidance and role modelling across both age groups.
• Maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment in both settings, including the setting up, care and packing down of rooms, resources and equipment.
