Job summary

The Spencer Hotel in Dublin is seeking a Duty Manager to join our team, playing a key role in operational management across Front of House. You will lead by example, guiding the team to maintain high service standards and guest satisfaction.

Ideal candidates bring 4* hotel management experience, a proven ability to manage a team, and strong communication and organisational skills. The role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends and seasonal peaks.

Qualifications

• Previous management experience in a 4* hotel or similar restaurant.
• Proven ability to manage a team and oversee front-of-house operations.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to lead by example and deliver great guest service.
• Ability to handle guest requests, complaints and VIP guests professionally.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Front of House operations with a strong senior presence at Reception.
• Provide clear direction, feedback and support to the team.
• Demonstrate leadership and decision-making to resolve issues.
• Deliver exceptional guest service and proactively manage guest requests.
• Coordinate with Front of House Manager and department heads for smooth handovers.
• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, SOPs, health and safety requirements, GDPR and security procedures.

Job description

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for Duty Manager to join our Team at The Spencer Hotel.

The 4* Spencer Hotel is in prime location overlooking the River Liffey in the heart of Dublin’s financial district. The hotel is located within 10 minutes’ walk from O’Connell Street, with easy access to Connolly & Dublin Docklands Dart & commuter train stations. The Luas and Dublin Bus services are also within minutes’ walk from the Hotel.

Main purpose of the role:

Play a key role in the operational management of the hotel, working collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure exceptional guest experiences and consistently high service standards.

General responsibilities will include

• Ensure consistently high levels of guest service and operational standards across Front of House, while supporting the daily management of the team.


• Oversee day-to-day Front of House operations, maintaining a strong senior presence at Reception and providing clear direction, feedback and support to the team.


• Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to make confident decisions, resolve problems and manage multiple priorities.


• Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest service, proactively managing guest requests and complaints, recognising repeat and VIP guests, and ensuring a welcoming and professional hotel environment.


• Work closely with the Front of House Manager, Heads of Department and wider Management Team, ensuring effective communication, smooth handovers and follow-up of operational issues and guest feedback.


• Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, SOPs, health and safety requirements, GDPR and security procedures, promptly reporting hazards, incidents or concerns and following through on corrective actions.

Ideal candidate will possess:

• Have had previous Management experience in a 4* Hotel or similar restaurant


• Have a proven ability to manage a team


• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and busy seasonal periods.


• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
