Job summary

AbbVie in Ireland seeks a Director of Process Engineering to lead a diverse team of engineers and scientists across CMC lifecycle, bridging development and manufacturing to scale processes from pilot to full-scale production.

You will shape engineering objectives, manage capital projects, partner with QA and manufacturing, and drive cost optimization while upholding safety, quality and regulatory standards within AbbVie’s global network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical).
• 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including formulation.
• At least 4 years of managerial experience.
• Knowledge of AbbVie Engineering standards.
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with internal and external partners to provide effective technical and business leadership.
• Directs a cross-functional staff to ensure all CMC lifecycle aspects are completed on time and within standards.
• Develops engineering objectives and strategies that advance the site and improve process optimization and cost reduction.
• Develops and communicates cost estimates, plans, timelines and contingency plans for projects.
• Participates in capital plan input and capital project execution for manufacturing capability.
• Make final decisions related to project responsibilities and resource needs.
• Represents AbbVie during regulatory audits when required with active participation.
• Ensures engineering activities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
