Job summary

Actavo Group is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing multidisciplinary teams, focusing initially on the Industrial Scaffold business. You will lead commercial management, collaborate with operations, finance and clients, and stand ready to expand across UK and Europe.

You will be responsible for cost control, budgeting, contracts, and final accounts, while mentoring junior team members and driving profitability on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline.
• Professional accreditation (RICS, SCSI or equivalent) desirable.
• Strong commercial and financial project control experience.
• Experience in cost management, forecasting and maximising project value.
• Experience procuring and managing direct labour, subcontractors and supply chains.
• Good knowledge of contract administration and change management.
• Experience preparing tenders, valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Knowledge of contract forms – RIAI, NEC and bespoke Management Contracts.

Responsibilities

Job description

Actavo Group is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) to join our growing multidisciplinary construction teams, with primary focus on our Industrial Scaffold Business initially.

You will take a key role in the commercial management and successful delivery of projects, working closely with the operational teams, finance teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers. With our growing portfolio and expansion, there will also be opportunities to travel and work on projects across the UK and Europe, providing valuable international experience and exposure to different projects, clients and contract environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementing commercial strategies and supporting project profitability, including monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and End Life Forecasting (ELF).
• Prepare, present and participate in monthly BU review meetings.
• Preparing valuations, applications for payment, forecasts and monthly commercial reports.
• Managing project cost reporting (CVR), BU budgets, cash flow and WIP.
• Administering main and subcontractor accounts, from tender right through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertaking contract administration and maintaining commercial and change registers.
• Ensuring accurate commercial records and reporting are maintained in line with company and client requirements.
• Working collaboratively with the Operational and Finance teams to achieve project objectives and accurate budgeting and reporting.
• Supporting and developing junior members of the commercial team.

Experience Required

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline.

• Knowledge of standard forms of contract – RIAI, NEC and bespoke Management Contracts.
• Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach to identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• The ambition to develop into a future commercial leader.
• Have or working towards SCSI or equivalent professional accreditation.
