Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team. About Your New Job / Role
As Commercial Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion, working closely with the senior management and project delivery teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial performance of live construction projects.
- Taking ownership of project budgets, forecasts, cash flow and cost reporting.
- Managing procurement and subcontractor packages.
- Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier agreements.
- Managing variations, valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly cost/value reports.
- Managing the contractual and commercial aspects of projects.
- Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Supporting senior management with commercial strategy and decision-making.
- Developing strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and professional teams.
- Providing guidance and support to junior members of the commercial team.
What You Will Need
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
- 7+ years' experience within the construction industry.
- Strong main contractor experience.
- Proven experience managing the commercial performance of construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management.
- Experience across subcontractor procurement, negotiation, variations, valuations, forecasting and final accounts.
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently while also operating effectively within a wider project team.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify commercial opportunities and mitigate risk.
