Job summary

The Hodson Bay Hotel is seeking a Breakfast Assistant to join our friendly Food & Beverage team. We welcome applicants who can cover morning shifts across weekdays and weekends, with a focus on delivering an outstanding breakfast experience.

Ideal candidates are energetic, customer-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Morning availability and flexibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous Food & Beverage, restaurant, cafe, or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and well-presented.
• Flexibility to work early morning shifts, weekdays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• To prepare the breakfast restaurant and service areas prior to opening.
• To welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• To assist with the service of breakfast food and beverages in accordance with hotel standards.
• To ensure buffet displays are fully stocked, clean, presentable, and replenished throughout service.
• To clear tables promptly and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
• To maintain a clean and organised work area at all times.
• To assist guests with queries and communicate hotel facilities and services.
• To ensure food hygiene and food safety standards are maintained at all times.
• To follow all HACCP procedures and company food safety policies.

The Hodson Bay Hotel are excited to recruit a Breakfast Assistant to join our friendly Food & Beverage team.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are available to work early morning shifts across both weekdays and weekends.

Shift Pattern

This role involves morning shifts, typically operating between:

• 7:00am to 12:00pm
• 8:00am to 1:00pm
• 7:00am to 3:00pm (depending on business levels and operational requirements)

Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays is essential.

Main Duties

• To prepare the breakfast restaurant and service areas prior to opening.
• To welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• To assist with the service of breakfast food and beverages in accordance with hotel standards.
• To ensure buffet displays are fully stocked, clean, presentable, and replenished throughout service.
• To clear tables promptly and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
• To maintain a clean and organised work area at all times.
• To assist guests with queries and communicate hotel facilities and services.
• To ensure food hygiene and food safety standards are maintained at all times.
• To follow all HACCP procedures and company food safety policies.
• To process payments where required, including cash, credit card, and debit card transactions.
• To participate in training as required by Supervisors or Management.
• To ensure the highest levels of customer care are practised at all times.
• To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
• To wear the appropriate uniform and name badge at all times.
• To ensure reasonable care is taken for the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, guests, and visitors.
• To assist with lunch service preparation where required.
• Any other duties as directed by Management.

A Little Bit About You

• Previous Food & Beverage, restaurant, cafe, or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.
