Job summary

Hodson Bay Hotel is seeking a Food and Beverage Assistant to join our hospitality team in Athlone. The role covers Restaurant, Bar, Café and Room Service duties, with a focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences.

The ideal candidate is energetic, customer-focused and capable of working under pressure, with good communication skills and midweek/weekend availability. Casual to full/part-time hours offered with staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality settings preferred.
• Cash handling experience is a plus.
• Able to work midweek and weekends as required.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Process payments including cash, credit, and debit transactions.
• Perform Food & Beverage assistant duties to the required standards.
• Participate in training as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
• Serve in Restaurant, Bar, Café, or Room Service as needed.
• Maintain high levels of customer care at all times.
• Follow the hotel's customer relations policy.
• Communicate hotel services to guests.
• Ensure secure handling of cash, vouchers, and payments.
• Maintain high personal hygiene and grooming.
• Wear the uniform and name badge at all times.
• Ensure health and safety of staff and guests.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by management.

Main Duties:

• To process payments including cash, credit and debit transactions
• To carry out all Food & Beverage assistant duties as per the agreed standards.
• To participate in training as required by Supervisor or Manager.
• To be responsible for the service of the Restaurant, Bar, Café or Room Service where directed.
• To ensure the highest levels of Customer Care are practised at all times.
• To carry out the Hotel’s customer relations policy.
• To communicate Hotel services to guests.
• To ensure cash/vouchers and all forms of payment are handled in a secure and responsible manner in all Food & Beverage Outlets
• To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
• To wear relevant uniform and name badge at all times.
• To ensure that reasonable care is taken for the Health & Safety of yourself, other employees, guests and any other persons on the Hotel premises.
• Any other duties as directed by management.

A little bit about you:

• Knowledge of drinks and cocktails preferred, but not essential
• Available to work midweek shifts & weekends when needed
• Ability to take initiative and anticipate customer needs
• Enjoy working in a fast paced environment
• Previous Cash Handling experience an advantage
