Job summary

Hodson Bay Hotel is seeking a Breakfast Assistant to join our friendly Food & Beverage team in Athlone. We are looking for energetic, customer-focused individuals able to work early morning shifts on weekdays and weekends.

The role offers part-time hours with shifts such as 7:00am–12:00pm, 8:00am–1:00pm, or 7:00am–3:00pm, with flexibility around business levels. Join a supportive team within the Hodson Bay Group and enjoy staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous Food & Beverage, restaurant, café, or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and well-presented.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Flexibility to work early morning shifts, weekdays, and weekends.
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• To prepare the breakfast restaurant and service areas prior to opening.
• To welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• To assist with the service of breakfast food and beverages in accordance with hotel standards.
• To ensure buffet displays are fully stocked, clean, presentable, and replenished throughout service.
• To clear tables promptly and efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service.
• To maintain a clean and organised work area at all times.
• To assist guests with queries and communicate hotel facilities and services.
• To ensure food hygiene and food safety standards are maintained at all times.
• To follow all HACCP procedures and company food safety policies.
• To process payments where required, including cash, credit card, and debit card transactions.
• To participate in training as required by Supervisors or Management.
• To ensure the highest levels of customer care are practised at all times.
• To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
• To wear the appropriate uniform and name badge at all times.
• To ensure reasonable care is taken for the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, guests, and visitors.
• To assist with lunch service preparation where required.
• Any other duties as directed by Management.

Shift Pattern

This role involves morning shifts, typically operating between:

• 7:00am to 12:00pm
• 8:00am to 1:00pm
• 7:00am to 3:00pm (depending on business levels and operational requirements)

Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays is essential.
