Job summary

Stryker Group in Cork is seeking a placement student to be based at one of our Cork sites, performing testing on medical device products and components using automated, semi-automated and manual methods. You will follow test protocols and report results in writing and verbally, helping evaluate product and component performance.

Qualifications

  • Currently completing an Irish or Northern Irish university qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Biomedical)
  • Excellent visual acuity and fine motor skills with attention to minute inconsistencies
  • Ability to analyze and correct complex testing and systems issues using independent judgment
  • Honesty and integrity; comply with quality system, regulations and company policies
  • Self-motivated, flexible and hardworking in a dynamic, fast environment
  • Team player capable of working in a multi-disciplined team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and basic PC skills
  • Keen interest in Engineering and eagerness to learn and develop
  • Available for 6, 9 or 12 months – start date to be discussed

Responsibilities

  • Identify a process improvement project with objectives, scope, milestones and evaluation metrics
  • Support R&D, Advanced Operations and Global Quality Operations on development and verification testing
  • Develop and coordinate inspection and testing procedures for prototypes and components
  • Formulate test guidelines and revise specifications as needed
  • Set up and perform routine to non-routine experiments in compliance with FDA requirements
  • Extract and process test data into written and verbal reports
  • Assist in designing, installing and maintaining test sampling systems, procedures and fixtures
  • Maintain test laboratory housekeeping to high standards
  • Coordinate with facilities and assist in maintenance of test equipment and fixtures
  • Demonstrate dependability, initiative, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
