As a Social Media Content Creator, you will work closely with our editorial team to turn health information, expert insights and editorial features into engaging content across our digital platforms.
You will be involved across the full content cycle from researching audience interests and identifying opportunities, to planning content, developing concepts, creating social and video content, publishing across platforms, and learning from how audiences respond.
Beyond articles, we want to explore new ways of communicating health information through video, visual storytelling, interactive content and other digital formats that make complex topics easier to understand and more useful in everyday life.
We are looking for someone who is curious about health, understands digital audiences and enjoys finding creative ways to make information clear, relevant and engaging. This role suits someone who can both think and create someone who is comfortable developing the idea, deciding how best to communicate it, and turning that idea into content.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with the editorial team to turn articles, expert insights and health topics into engaging content for social media, the website and other digital platforms.
- Plan and develop content calendars and campaigns aligned with editorial priorities, audience interests and platform objectives.
- Identify interesting angles, hooks and storytelling opportunities from health topics and expert perspectives.
- Develop concepts for social posts, carousels, graphics, short-form videos, interactive content and other digital formats.
- Write captions, headlines, hooks, scripts and short-form copy that communicate the key message clearly and encourage audience action.
- Create visual content that makes health information easier to understand and engaging for a general audience.
- Develop video content from concept to execution, including ideation, scripting, filming, editing and preparing content for publication.
- Explore new content formats beyond traditional articles, including interactive explainers, quizzes, guides, tools and other digital experiences where appropriate.
- Research health topics, audience interests, digital trends and conversations to identify relevant content opportunities.
- Adapt content appropriately for different social media platforms rather than applying the same execution across every channel.
- Plan and roll out content across relevant social media channels to increase awareness, engagement and qualified traffic to the website.
- Monitor content performance and use insights from reach, engagement, traffic and audience behaviour to improve future content.
- Experiment with different hooks, formats, creative approaches and calls to action to understand what resonates with our audience.
- Ensure content remains accurate, responsible and consistent with the original expert or editorial source material.
- Prepare, schedule and publish content while maintaining consistency in quality, tone and brand presentation.
- Contribute ideas for new topics, campaigns, formats and ways the business can make health information more useful to its audience.
What You Bring:
- Relevant education or professional experience in communications, media, digital media, content creation, marketing, journalism, design or a related field.
- Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, concise and engaging content for a general audience.
- Demonstrated experience creating content for social media or other digital platforms.
- Strong interest in health topics and in finding better ways to communicate health information to the public.
- A good understanding of digital audiences, social media behaviour and what makes people stop, watch, read, engage or take action.
- A good eye for visual storytelling, with the ability to identify the key message or interesting angle within a larger piece of information.
- Experience with graphic design, image editing and/or video editing tools.
- Ability to develop short-form video content, including concepts, scripts and editing.
- Ability to think beyond individual posts and understand how different pieces of content can work together as part of a broader content strategy or campaign.
- Comfortable using content performance data to evaluate what is working and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Able to balance creativity with accuracy and responsible communication, particularly when working with health information.
- Curious, creative and detail-oriented, with the initiative to explore ideas and solve problems independently.
- Comfortable working in a growing environment where priorities may evolve and where you will have opportunities to help shape how we approach content.
- Proficiency in reading and writing a second language is an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
- You are able to take an article, expert interview or health topic and independently identify what is interesting about it, who it matters to, and how it should be communicated.
- You develop content that does more than generate views - it encourages meaningful engagement, builds trust and gives audiences a reason to explore the business further.
- You progressively develop a strong understanding of our audience and use performance insights to improve what we create, how we distribute it and how effectively our content brings audiences from social platforms to our website.
- You contribute ideas proactively rather than waiting for a detailed content brief for every piece of work.
- You maintain a high standard of accuracy and judgment when translating expert health information into accessible public-facing content.
