Job summary

Traveloka is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale multi-service systems across teams. You will own system-level latency, cost, and reliability while delivering clean API contracts and robust delivery plans.

You will mentor junior to mid-level engineers, participate in on-call rotations, and partner with Product to map technical dependencies. You will help shape the engineering roadmap and the use of AI tools to speed delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Experience designing a multi-service system from scratch.
• Own system-level consistency, latency, and cost tradeoffs.
• Able to produce clear API contracts and a delivery plan.
• Experience mentoring junior to mid-level engineers.
• Partnership with Product to map technical dependencies and API integrations.
• Experience with AI tools in workflow and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship multi-service systems across teams, balancing latency, cost, and correctness.
• Decompose ambiguous product problems into service architecture and API contracts.
• Set the technical bar through rigorous reviews and API guidance.
• Mentor junior to mid-level engineers through review and pairing.
• Act as senior on-call authority to prevent incidents through durable design.
• Influence the engineering roadmap with architectural proposals.
