Job summary

Traveloka, a Jakarta-based tech startup, seeks an experienced Backend Engineering Lead to own delivery outcomes for critical accommodation backend services. You will guide architectural direction, manage on-call reliability, and coach a fast-moving team while aligning with product goals.

You will translate roadmaps into executable plans, oversee risk, and collaborate across product and engineering to ensure scalable, high-quality services.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with leadership of a small team.
• Led delivery of backend projects with planning, sequencing and accountability.
• Experience owning a team's delivery end-to-end and managing risk to plan.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery outcomes: roadmap commitments, quality, and reliability of backend services.
• Set architectural direction and maintain quality through hands-on review.
• Own on-call and incident posture; drive reliability improvements without bottlenecking the team.
• Build a high-performance team culture with clear expectations, feedback, and accountability for results.
• Translate roadmap into execution with ownership and evidenced prioritization.
• Partner with product and adjacent engineering leads to convert business goals into a sequenced delivery plan.
• Define how the team uses AI tools and ensure responsible, validated use.
• Communicate team priorities to product and other teams and push back on scope with evidence.
